Revista Paint & Pintura - Edição 226

ABRAFATI PREVIEW 98 | PAINT&PINTURA | Outubro 2017 UNIVAR Univar is showcasing the newly launched items and highlights from its portfolio, according tomarket manager Luis Macha- do. “For example, there are DSM resins for printing inks, the new Synres hydroxylated acrylic resins for industrial coatings, the Wannate line of aliphatic isocynates fromWanhua, the AMP multi-purpose neutralizing agent from ANGUS, the Syloid A 4116 silica from Grace for architectural coatings, surface additives from Dow Corning, the Dow UCAR LV low-odor, low- -VOC coalescing agents, Dow resins and additives for architectural coatings, Producciones metal octoates, and Lambiotte environment-friendly solvents, aswell as titaniumdioxide pigments fromTronox, and the Printex carbon blacks fromOrion.” Furthermore, Machado points out that Univar has a technical team of experts on formulation adjustments and new for- mulations. “We have a laboratory ready to run comparative and application tests entirely at our customers’ disposal.” WACKER At Abrafati 2017, Wacker is introducing a series of new treatment solutions that repel dust onmineral surfaces, according to Gustavo Soares, marketing manager, Construction Polymers. “Because of its composition, the Primis SAF 9000 dispersion is oil-resistant and hydrophobic at the same time, protecting coating films from a variety of stains. We are also introducing Silres BS 710, a new anti-graffiti coating that forms a permanent elastic silicone protective film that allows graffiti to be removed quite easily, using only water.” Soares points out that Silres BS 710 is a one-component silicone rubber formulation that forms a silicone elastomer film upon curing at room temperature and exposure to humidity. “The alkoxy-curing silicone-based coating differentiates itself from traditional products for its unique formulation concept that completely eliminates the need for tin catalysts and oxime crosslinkers. Typical applications for Silres BS 710 include paints and coatings that protect buildings, schools, walkways, parking facilities, train and metro or bus stations, highway bridges and sound barriers from graffiti and stickers.” WANA QUÍMICA For this edition of Abrafati, the highlight from Wana Química’s broad portfolio is the Urewan line of urethane rheology modifiers, according to Northeast Branch director Adriano Petrone. “Their features include the fact that they add spe- cific high shear properties during application by paint roller, with improved leveling, spreading and yields, among other performance gains in waterborne paint applications. We’re also showcasing acrylic resins for several niche markets, such as road-marking paints and waterborne enamels, which we have developed to provide special properties for each such markets —for example, our resin for road-marking applications complies with the ABNT 13699 standard.” Petrone says Wana Química is also launching new grades of their sodium and ammonium poyacrylate dispersing agents, featuring improved washability, as well as APEO-free wetting agents. “To enhance washability, or abrasion resistance, we have the Turbowan silane-modified resins, which raise pH levels and can reduce the use of alkalinizers in the formulation. We can’t fail to mention W.SUPRA 7, a modified clay that improves water absorption in leveling and filling compounds as well as textured coatings.” WANHUA “Wanhua is participating in Abrafati for the first time,” enthuses Alberto Hassessian, Coatings, Adhesives and Specialties business director for Latin America. “This is a mi- lestone for the company, which less than a year ago decided to bring its entire range of aliphatic isocyanates to Latin America. What we plan to do for the trade show is introduce ourselves to the paint and coatings industry as a new player with a global stature, but a strong local presence.” Wanhua is a leading global manufacturer of isocyanates and polyols, and also theworld leader inMDI, according to Hassessian. “We provide the full range of isocyanates, such as MDI, TDI, HDI, HMDI, and IPDI, including derivatives. For the coatings industry, we have a comprehensive range of aliphatic isocyanates, which are key ingredients in automotive, industrial, anticorrosive and other coatings, as well as a variety of other ruggedmaterials, andwe work with local inventories and regional technical support.”
