ABRAFATI PREVIEW 74 | PAINT&PINTURA | Outubro 2017 CARBONO Carbono Química is a traditional chemical distributor in the Brazilian market, and does massive business with the paint and coatings industry, according to its development director Rodrigo J. Gabriel. “Established in 1978, we have solid infrastructure at our headquarters as well as our branches, serving customers in the domestic market in a speedy, accurate and dynamic fashion. Our sales force is staffed with professionals boasting an advanced technical profile, and we have laboratories for full customer support, as our customers are valued in all of their actions. Besides, we have a diverse portfolio comprising all products froma range of hydrocarbon and oxygenated solvents to titaniumdioxide pigments to epoxy resins and catalysts to mineral oils to specialty chemicals, such as defoamers, dispersing agents and coalescing agents. Gabriel says that Carbono is introducing its new line of dispersing agents at Abrafati 2017. “These products are based on natural materials from renewable sources to replace acrylic and mineral products in general, all without adding costs to the formulation.” CHEMOURS Chemours is taking part in Abrafati 2017 with its chief brand for the industry, Ti-Pure, stressing the points of difference of its various grades for paints and coatings. “The various Ti-Pure grades stand out from the competition for their high perfor- mance. The titanium dioxide pigments from Chemours are produced by the chloride process, which results in a product of high brightness, superior opacity and dispersibility, and with a low level of impurities, while combining high hiding power with weathering resistance in a unique way,” says Titanium Technologies business manager Cláudia Antunes. The company is highlighting several products from its portfolio for the coatings industry. “Ti-Pure R-902+ is amulti-purpose grade titanium dioxide pigment recommended for use in paints applied in interior and exterior environments. Ti-Pure R-706 is a universal titanium dioxide pigment designed to provide high gloss in coatings with outstanding durability. Ti- -Pure R-900 is a general-purpose titaniumdioxide pigment used in paints for interior gloss applications, featuring excellent dispersion and providing maximum hiding power. Ti-Pure Select TS-6200 is a titanium dioxide pigment designed to meet the requirements of the most demanding of applications, including a maximum-durability coating. The TS-6200 delivers excellent gloss retention, while being uniquely easy to disperse. Last but not least, Ti-Pure Select TS-6300 is a specialty titanium dioxide pigment designed to provide maximum hiding power in premium quality matte coatings,” Claudia says. CHROMAFLO Chromaflo provides a variety of low-VOC, APE-free colorants for all technologies, including high-solids formulations and waterborne, solvent-borne, 100%-solids and UV-curing systems, according to their own Gisele Ferreira, Territory Sales Ma- nager, Brazil. “We offer the paint and coatings industry a broad range of colorants. Our Colortrend 808 line, for example, is mainly characterized by its low content of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and the absence of alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEs) and formaldehyde.” Gisele reveals that one other highlight of Chromaflo’s exhibit is its new Chroma-Cham 897 line of universal colorants for industrial water-based tinting systems, which are also APE-free and low-VOC. “We are also displaying our traditional water- -based colorant lines for architectural coatings —Colortrend 888, Colortrend 886, Monicolor, and Color Fusion. As for colorants for industrial coatings in general, such as protective coatings, wood coatings, flooring systems, concrete, auto- motive OEM and refinish coatings, we have water-based colorants from the Chroma-Chem UCD-Q and UCD-E lines, as well as solvent-based colorants from the Chroma-Chem844, Chroma-Chem641, and Chroma-ChemUCD-V lines, among others.” CLARIANT Clariant’s passion for coatings reflects in the innovation and trend-driven support it is exhibiting at Abrafati. Clariant is intro- ducing its solutions to meet customer demands for appealing colors, less complex formulations, enhanced performance, and environmentally compliant products. Some of the products they are putting in the spotlight are Genamin Gluco 50, a renewable-based, VOC/SVOC-free multifunctional neutralizing agent without any hazard labeling, the Hostatint A 100-ST range, which features ready-to-use, highly-transparent pigment preparations that offer the entire color circle to solvent- -based paint systems, and AddWorks IBC 251, a new additive for powder coatings that provides a heat and light protective effect for non-staining and reduced discoloration under gas-fading conditions.
