ABRAFATI PREVIEW PAINT&PINTURA | Outubro 2017 | 91 OLIN The world market in performance epoxy coatings is still dominated by solvent-borne systems due to the high viscosity va- lues that are typical of epoxy and epoxy-novolac resins. Against that backdrop, Olin is introducing at Abrafati 2017 its new DLVE epoxy and DLVNE epoxy-novolac resin lines, according toMarcos França, head of research and development for Latin America. “These products allowcustomers to produce easy-to-apply, high-solids coatingswithout prejudice to performance. Most importantly, these lines have been specifically developed to comply with the strictest of environmental regulations.” In addition, França says the company is showcasing the DER 6625 and DER 6635 intermediate-molecular-weight resins for producing decorative powder coatings. “These resins unite good processability and a great finish with the heat stability required for transporting and storing powder coatings.” ORION ENGINEERED CARBONS At Abrafati 2017, Orion Engineered Carbons is continuing its focus on highly dispersible carbon blacks for coatings applications and featuring its newest grade: XPB 430 Powder, a “stir-in preparation” carbon black for waterborne coatings, according to Jennifer Granados, marketing manager, Coatings, Printing Systems and Specialty Applications, Americas. “XPB 430 Powder offers the highest jetness levels and strongbluishundertones for durable, high-quality automotive base coats. It is also ideal for other high-jetness applications such as premium industrial andplastic coatings and automotiveOEMand refinish applications.” In addition, the company is introducing two carbon black grades for coatings applications. “These specialty carbon black products deliver high jetness in both waterborne and solvent-borne systems. Colour Black FW 255 Powder, for automotive OEM and refinish coatings, sets new benchmarks for highest jetness, coloristic performance and compatibility with both waterborne and solvent-borne systems. Special Black 40 Powder, for medium- to high-jet coatings, provides exceptional dispersibility and stability in industrial applications,” Jennifer points out.
