ABRAFATI PREVIEW 96 | PAINT&PINTURA | Outubro 2017 SINTEQUÍMICA A company attaining 64 years of existence and a pioneering pigment dispersion technology developer in Brazil, Sintequímica is exhibiting at Abrafati 2017, as a major new development, its Sintetint line of colorants for tinting systems, according to sales director Marcelo Amaral Leite de Macedo. “They are 10 water-based pigment dispersions produced to the maximum degree of grinding and filtration, allowing customers to formulate 724 colors that will be made available from an exclusive database.” Macedomentions that the company’s entire product portfolio is being put on display at its booth, together with a fewnew color indexes from its well-known, extensive Sinterdye range of pigment dispersions. “Products from this range find their applications in various markets, such as decorative coatings, printing inks, household cleaning products, rubber goods, art paints, and the agribusiness.” SOLVAY / RHODIA The Solvay Group, which also does business in Brazil with the Rhodia brand, has set aside for Abrafati 2017 a number of innovations from its Oxygenated Solvents and Coatings business units. “In the Oxygenated Solvents business, one of our projects for excellence is the Aromatic Solvent-Free program, which involves ethyl, n-butyl and n-propyl acetates to reassure the marketplace, particularly for packaging printing inks. The items we are launching are sustainable solvents from the Augeo and Solsys lines, featuring high solvent power and low VOCs, while also being environmentally friendly. It’s worth pointing out that we’re investing 7.5 million euros to implement this new Augeo line of sustainable solvents,” says Walter Gallego, Solvents sales director at Solvay Coatis. In the Coatings business, the company is highlighting several products from Solvay Novecare. “We have the Sipomer SR functional monomer, which is designed to improvewashability in high-PVC paints, the RhodolineWA 1801 pigment and filler dispersing agent, which provides higher abrasion resistance, greater hiding power, and reduced dust pick-up in decorative paints, the Sipomer PAM 600 functional monomer, which improves adhesion to inorganic substrates, and a grade recom- mended for solvent-borne systems, Sipomer PAM 200. The company is also stressing the Rhodoline 3000/4000 line, which consists of pigment concentrate dispersions, as well as our Abex and Rhodapex lines of alkylphenol-free polymerization surfactants,” says Kátia Braga, Coatings regional manager at Solvay Novecare. STEPAN Stepan, a manufacturer of polyester polyols, provides a comprehensive range of aliphatic and aromatic polyester polyols for coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers, according to account manager Robson Zago Ottati. “For powder coatin- gs, Stepan has developed the Rucote 9014 and Rucote 9108 resins for highly durable, one-shot-matte finishes with Primid, which allows for a gloss adjustment up to 3 UB, depending on the mixing ratios. These resins bring about cost reductions, compared to other gloss-reducing additives, and deliver great gloss stability even after multiple extrusions or exposure to different curing temperatures.” THOR Thor is a British multinational with 14 subsidiaries around the globe which specializes in preservatives, focusing on paints and coatings, among various other industries, according to Adriana Batista, account manager. “We have sales offices, technical service and manufacturing facilities in Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa, providing innovative in-can and dry-film preservatives to meet both the customer and regulatory requirements in each of the markets we serve.
