In attendance were high-profile industry personalities and representatives of all major companies in the paint and coatings sector. REGIONAL COATINGS INDUSTRY “OSCARS” PRESENTED TO NORTH AND NORTHEAST WINNERS, NATIONAL AWARD FINALISTS ANNOUNCED This issue of Paint & Pintura Magazine will go down in the history of Agnelo Editora. On the pages ahead is our firsthand coverage of the 1st Paint & Pintura Regional Awards for North and Northeast Brazil, which took place on March 9 at Alices Buffet, in Fortaleza, the state capital of Ceará. The event was a tremendous success, with leading personalities and repre- sentatives of key companies in the region’s paint and coatings industry in attendance. The regional “Oscars” of the industrywent to 16 of its suppliers, one paint company, and four personalities who stood out in local marketplace over the course of last year. Additionally, the two individualswhohavemade themost valuable contributions to the industry in the North and Northeast were honored by Agnelo Editora: Ailton Rino Grando, general manager at For- tcolor, and Marcos Soares, president of Sindquímica Ceará. And get ready, as the 2nd Paint & Pintura Regional Awards for the North and Northeast is set to take place in March of 2019, in Recife, Pernambuco. Another event covered in this issue is the 34th Paint & Pintura Coatings Technology and Management Forum, Northeast Region, which took place on March 8 and 9 at Hotel Luzei- ros, in Fortaleza, Ceará. Featuring lectures on technical and management-related topics that showed theNortheastmarket to significant innovations, the forum brought together a large number of professionals, totaling 186 registered attendees. And now it’s time for the coatings industry’s national “Oscars”. The finalists for the 22nd Paint & Pintura Awards, which will take place on May 18 at Espaço Vila dos Ipês, in São Paulo, are announced in this issue. The Paint & Pintura Suppliers Survey has determined the finalists in 53 categories, 39 of which are for suppliers to the industry, eight for paint companies, plus six Personality of the Year awards. That survey commenced on November 6, 2017 and ended on March 9, 2018—except for personalities of the year, for which the survey moves on to phase two, extending through April. The trophies are going to be presented to industry’s leading companies and personalities who stood out in the course of 2017 according to several criteria. See the finalists in all 53 categories on the coming pages. But that’s not all the news on Agnelo Editora events just yet. Happening in this month of April is the 35th Paint & Pintura Coatings Technology and Management Forum, South Region. Moreprecisely, onApril 5, at LocandaHotel, inNovoHamburgo, Rio Grande do Sul. The forum is bringing to the metropolitan area of Porto Alegre, the state capital of RioGrandedoSul, technical lectures fromma- jor suppliers to the coatings industry, as well as conferences on management-related issues. It is sponsored by such companies as Carbono Química, Eastman, Elementis Specialties, the MAST Group, IMCD, MCassab, Rudnik, Stahl, and Univar. Also backing the forum are Corfix, Darcor, Tintas e Texturas Graffiare, Tintas Killing, Lumacor, New Tintas, Tintas Renner, and Tintas WEG. The award for Special Contribution to the coatings industry was accepted by Ailton Rino Grando, general manager at Fortcolor, andMarcos Soares, president of Sindquímica Ceará.
