They’re complementary chemicals whose points of difference are performance, lowodor and zero VOC. Eastman is an advocate for the world trend towards using zero-VOC products. Accordingly, we are constantly engaged in research so that we can always launch products and innovations to meet that demand.” Basso says that the company is introducing in the marketplace its latest product lines, the Advantex and Vantex T pH neutralizers. “Both of them are very low-odor products we have added to our range of coalescing agents. We’re also intro- ducing Texanol, which is an industry benchmark for formulation of decorative coatings thanks to its robust performance and user-friendliness, not to mention that it’s VOC-free, and Optifilm 300, which while providing the same well-balanced performance, is also a zero-VOC coalescing agent according to both the ABNT (Brazilian Association for Technical Standards) and the Green Building Council, which regulates the sustainable building methodology, and is a very low-odor product. We are also presenting at the show a lecture on yet another new product, the Tetrashield ultra high-performance polyester resin for OEM industrial coatings and protective coatings. The titles for the 2018 colors for paints and coatings serveour customers as a sourceof inspiration for any application they can imagine: Nocturnal, Color Chaos, Identity, Dreamer, and Silence.” ELEMENTIS As part of an ongoing process of expanding its portfolio of products manufactured and distributed in Brazil, Elementis Specialties is introducing several newdevelopments at Abrafati 2017, according to Carlos Ramiro Santo, technical manager for South America. “For decorative paints, we are introducing the Super ICI latest-generation urethane thickeners, two new acrylic thickeners that provide an alternative to cellulosic thickeners, and two new Newtonian acrylic thickeners to enhance quality in economy paints.” In addition, says Santo, Elementis Specialties is stressing its comprehensive range of dispersing agents, including the new Nuosperse FX 631 and Nuosperse FX 665, which are based on a hydrophobic copolymer, as well as Nuosperse 504/505 and Nuosperse 605, which are based on polycarboxylic acid salts. “For industrial coatings, we are launching new additions to our Bentone range that work in a broader polarity range, especially Bentone 30 and Bentone 54.
