Bandeirante Brazmo is expanding its storage area for solid cargos and
liquid bulks at the João Pessoa unit, and is also setting up a blending
unit. “Our goal is to expand the area served within the region,” says the
Northeast manager.
Industry in the Spotlight - The magic of pigments
With its differentiated line of metallic pigments, Aldoro celebrates its
35 years of business in the paint market and the completion of their
new aluminum paste plant.
Having amassed great expertise in the metallic pigment market since its
foundation in February 1976, Aldoro started out as a manufacturer of
metallic powder in leased property in the city of Santo André, Greater
São Paulo. “In 1978 we bought a 100 sq. m land area in the town of Rio
Claro, where we built a metallic powder plant that started up in 1982.
By 1989 we had one more production plant, but this time for aluminum
paste. In 1994 we acquired Alcan Brazil’s Al Paste division and became
the only manufacturer of aluminum paste in Brazil and one of two in
South America,” says Staffan Martendal, Aldoro’s Managing Director.
Today, the company operates from a built-up area of 12,000 sq. m area
and has 85 employees, capacity of 4,500 tons per year, and annual sales of
R$ 38 million. “Our products are marketed under the Stanlux brand. As for
recognition, we mention that we won the Paint & Pintura Award for best
supplier of metallic pigments 12 years in a row,” Martendal celebrates.
Case - Printing inks - Sun Chemical supplies environmentally
friendly paint for the Acqua Kids line.
Congraf, a company which has always been engaged in social and
environmental responsibility initiatives and willing to strike partner-
ships for sustainable development, is introducing the redesigning plan
for the Acqua Kids line, which has been conceived with the customer
Nazca and in partnership with Sun Chemical and Papirus as suppliers
of raw material.
The Coatset mineral oil-based paint has been replaced with Sun
Chemical’s Exact, a paint formulated with soybean oil. The Exact paint
is produced by a low-environmental impact process, free of mineral oils
and formulated from plant oils, with a very low VOC (Volatile Organic
Compounds) content, allowing for reduced greenhouse gas emissions
from both the internal production process and customer applications,
as all of the components used in its formulation play a film-forming
role in the printing process.
The Exact paint also bears the Napim seal, a certification granted upon
confirmation by a scientific investigation that 78 to 82 percent of the
raw materials used in its formulation come from renewable sources, as
determined by the C14 method.
Not only is it an environment-friendly paint, it also delivers such pro-
perties as high gloss and outstanding scratch resistance on the printed
material. It contains the amount of soybean oil that the ASA requires
to allow the use of the “Printed with Soy Ink” seal.
