engaged in a mutual cooperation in our ongoing pursuit of
quality products and services,” says Roberto Gagliardi, ma-
nufacturing manager at J.Reminas.
The company kicked off the selection process in October 2009,
interviewing five of the most reputable certifying firms in
Brazil to choose one to implement the ISO 9001:2008 stan-
dard. “In February 2010, after we picked the best of those
firms, the project implementation was expected to extend for
12 to 20 months. We started the process on March 8, 2010,
but the long way to run before achieving certification was
followed slowly and thoroughly, with each department strictly
trained, inspected and audited,” says Gagliardi.
Only a few adjustments were required at J.Reminas, and the
change in the traceability process for free samples seems to be
the most interesting one. “Concerning the laboratory, it was a
faster process that involved less paperwork. We also changed
the layout of internal documents to make them easier to fill
in. The shipping department was entirely mapped according
to identification, i.e. by product, batch, data manufactured,
storage time, etc.,” he explains.
After the long implementation process, J.Reminas underwent
three audits conducted by a German firm. “We passed all au-
dits without any nonconformity, so we were issued the much-
-coveted certificate on July 30, 2011. Having an assurance
that our company is now certified under quality standards
makes J.Reminas’ customers more confident in the products
we provide and our service more reliable. For us at J.Reminas,
it is an important achievement, as it is a quality certification
that covers all aspects from manufacturing to distribution,
customer care and after-sales service. All these things combi-
ned have secured us this excellence seal,” Gagliardi concludes.
