“I’ve worked in several company departments, such as fi-
nance, sales and operations, and I am now in the general
management position. I’ve been in Brazil for six years. I
lived five years in the North region, in Belém, Pará, where
I was responsible for Imerys’ kaolin operation, which
produces 2 million tons of kaolin per month and exports
it to customers all over the world. In August 2012, I came
to Campinas, São Paulo to make the transition with the
previous manager, but only in January 2013 did I become
vice president,” Navazo says.
In the interview with Rafael Navazo, which is available
in Portuguese only, he speaks about Imerys’ goals and
strategies for the next few years, its acquisition of Itatex,
investments and new developments, as well as the main
challenges and goals for his new position.

“Oscar” Presented to the Best in the
Industry
The presentation ceremony of the “Oscar” of the paint
industry, held on May 3rd at Espaço Vila dos Ipês, in São
Paulo, and attended by 883 professionals of the paint sup-
ply chain, was a major success yet again.
The 17th Paint & Pintura Awards were presented to 50
winners in various categories, 38 of which for “Suppliers”,
seven for “Best Paint Companies”, and five for “Personali-
ties of the Year”. In addition to these awards, this year’s
edition included a tribute to two personalities of extreme
importance to the business, who were presented with the
Special Award for Contribution to the paint industry:
Waldemar Lazzuri, owner of Skylack; and Carlos Celos
Russo, technical director at Adexim-Comexim.
To kick off the event, Agnelo Editora’s chief executive
officer Agnelo de Barros Neto delivered his opening speech
and thanked all of the people involved in the industry
for their contribution to award ceremony. “I want to
thank our sponsors once again because, without them, we
wouldn’t get anywhere. Thank you for your confidence in
our work, and many thanks to the wonderful team that I
have behind me.”
