Rhodia
Rhodia is starting to produce
in Brazil is n-propyl acetate, a
solvent used especially in printing
ink formulations. Produced at
the company’s industrial park in
Paulínia, São Paulo, the new sol-
vent meets the packaging printing
industry’s demand for environ-
mentally friendly products which
comply with the environmental
legislation.
The company will emphasize its
low-VOC, low-toxicity solvents and
specialty chemicals used in the
production of paints and coatings.
Rhodia Novecare Latin America’s
product range includes coalescent
agents used in the formulation of
paint resins (Sipomer, Abex and
Rhodapex), and a major innovation,
the Rhodiasolv Iris environment-
friendly solvent, which is non-toxic
and compliant with EU Directive
1999/13/EC.
Rhodia will also launch the Spanish
and English versions of the book
entitled “Industrial Solvents – Selec-
tion, Formulation and Application,”
authored by 15 researchers and
experts who work for the company
in Brazil. Having become a bench-
mark in the industry’s technical
literature, the book was published
in Portuguese in late 2007.
One of Rhodia’s highlights for the
Abrafati Congress will be a con-
ference on the theme “Methodo-
logy for Reducing VOC Content in
Coatings based on Photochemical
Reactivity,” to be conducted by
Sergio Martins, technical service co-
ordinator for Rhodia Solvents Latin
America.
SGS Polímeros
SGS Polímeros will be at Abrafa-
ti 2009 publicizing its brand and
broad range of high-quality pro-
ducts and services. The trade show
represents an opportunity for the
company to integrate itself with the
market, bringing together profes-
sionals of various fields of expertise.

ments will be there to further the

Sintequímica
For this year’s edition of Abrafati,
Sintequímica will focus on the laun-
ch of a line of high-performance
pigment dispersions and a new
color catalog.
A manufacturer of pigment disper-
sions based in Brazil, Sintequímica
has been in business since 1954. In
the year of its 55th anniversary,
the company will be at the trade
show exhibiting its traditional
line of dispersions whose market
share has increased rapidly each
year. New colors have been added
to the Sinterdye line and will be
