135
nal with extensive experience in
the development of technologies
and solutions for a variety of
markets, will exhibit at Abrafati
2009 its main specialty products
for coatings, resins, formulators
and polymers. They are produ-
ced form natural, renewable raw
materials and provide such benefits
as flexibility at low temperatures,
durability and stability. Among the
main technologies employed, the
highlights are Croda’s functional
monomers, emulsifiers, dispersants,
polymeric surfactants, plasticizers,
chain extenders, solvents and pro-
cess additives.
Croda’s main product lines are Lo-
VoCoat (polymeric emulsifiers), Ma-
xemul (non-migrating surfactants),
Prifac (distilled fatty acids), Prifrac
(fractioned fatty acids), Priplast
(polyester polyols), Pripol (dimeric
acids), Span (emulsifiers and disper-
sants), and Tween (emulsifiers).
Croda has a complete structure,
with high-quality technical services
and product application know-how,
and constantly develops new con-
cepts and products that maximize
end product performance in a wide
variety of applications.
D’Altomare
D’Altomare will exhibit products
that meet current customer requi-
rements following today’s market
trends, such as low-VOC and water-
based formulations. In construc-
tion chemicals, the company will
emphasize DC IE-6683, a low-VOC,
silane-siloxane water-repellent for
water-based formulations, and
Pidicryl 7400, an acrylic emulsion
that improves adhesion and water-
resistance properties.
In the printing inks segment,
D’Altomare will introduce Glice-
reth 26, used in the production of
printing inks, graphic inks and
inkjet cartridges. Also to be stressed
are DC 51, a high molecular-weight
additive that enhances scratch re-
sistance in printing inks, and DC 65,
a defoamer for water-based formu-
lations featuring good compatibility
and minimal impact on leveling and
hiding.
In the decorative paint segment,
the novelties are Pidicryl 126 M, an
acrylic emulsion for that provides
outstanding abrasion resistance,
low dirt pick-up and UV stability,
and DC IE 2404, an emulsion for
exterior and façade coatings.
Dow
Present at yet another edition of the
Abrafati International Paint Con-
gress, Dow Brazil decided to adhere
to the theme for this year’s event
(The Paint of The Future) and will
exhibit its latest technologies for
the paint market, bringing to Brazil
several products that will ensure
more comfort and performance.
In addition to being in line with
the message of the trade show,
Dow Brazil will also demonstrate
its whole concept of sustainabili-
ty, showcasing its product range
and projects that contribute to
the environment, making the lives
of users easier and healthier. Six
new products for the architectural
market will be on display, especially
Invizipro, which works as a surface
protection film for ease of cleaning
and maintenance.
Another highlight of the company’s
participation in the trade show
is the exposition of low-VOC and
even zero-VOC materials, such as
Angus AEPD Box 100, which repla-
ces ammonia, and the VSR emulsion
line. For industrial coatings, Dow
will launch three technologies at
its booth, such as Renuva, a “green”
platform produced from renewable
sources that replaces oil derivatives
in paint formulations.
DuPont
DuPont Titanium Technologies will
be at Abrafati 2009 introducing its
newest Innovation and Technolo-
gy Center, located in Paulínia, São
Paulo. Opened on July 1st, 2009, the
facilities were specifically designed
for research and development of
new solutions for customers in Bra-
zil and throughout Latin America.
With its new center, DuPont will be
able to conduct studies for a wide
variety of applications.
The Titanium Technologies division
will also participate in the Congress
with three lectures on the segment.
Lewis Manring, vice president of
technology at DuPont Coatings &
Color Technologies, will conduct one
of the panels on the focal theme for
the show: “The Paint of the Future.”
DuPont Titanium Technologies
supplies a broad range of titanium
dioxide pigments, of which it will
be highlighting the following:
R-902+, a multipurpose TiO2 grade
pigment for application in both
interior and exterior, solvent-based
and water-based decorative paints;
R-900, a TiO2 for high-gloss interior
paints, and also the best-suited of
all DuPont pigments for printing
inks; R-706, a universal grade pig-
ment for both interior and exterior
paints, particularly well-suited for
gloss and semi-gloss paints; and
R-931, a grade specifically suited for
matte pates, with maximum hiding
power in high volumetric concen-
trations of pigment.
Evonik
Evonik will be launching several
products. In the color segment, new
colors have been added to the Inxel
line, consisting of easily dispersible
pigment concentrates, and there is
also the Colour Black FW 171 gas-
black carbon black for water-based
paint formulations.
The company will also exhibit its
pigment concentrates designed
for use at shops, such as Color-
trend 808, free of volatile organic
compounds (VOCs), alkylphenol
ethoxylate (APE) and formaldehy-
de, the new Chroma-Chem AK 942
line of universal colorants, and the
Chroma-Chem 895 VOC-free, APE-
free pigment concentrates.
In the additives segment, Evonik
will launch Aeroxide Alu 130, for
powder coatings production, while
demonstrating the expansion of its
family of silanes developed with the
innovative Sivo Sol technology from
