PAINT & PINTURA
Latin America.
With an eye on the potential of this
market segment and its promising
growth, Isograma has opened a
new resin production plant with
state-of-the-art process control and
automation technologies to ensu-
re the quality and efficiency of its
products, and extended its product
offerings for the paint and textured
coatings segment. In addition to its
famous water repellent Humocer
100 A45, the company will launch a
line of acrylic resins and thickeners.
Isograma has been engaged in the
business of manufacturing paraffin
and wax emulsions for 22 years. It is
also a Petrobras distributor. In addi-
tion to the company’s two plants
in São José dos Pinhais, Paraná,
and São Sebastião do Passe, Bahia,
Isograma has a distribution center
in Ananindeua, Pará, and controls
Transportadora Isograma, a com-
pany specializing in transporting
liquid cargos.
Isograma attributes its success to its
ability to anticipate market trends
through surveys, technology-based
partnerships, innovation and labo-
ratory tests, developing solutions to
meet the requirements of customers
in several market segments through
a highly qualified technical sales
team.
Itatex
During the trade fair, Itatex will
exhibit its newest titanium dioxide
extender Saca-BS, a mineral compo-
site for semi-gloss coatings deve-
loped by technical coatings con-
sultant Luís Manoel. Another very
stable product designed for alkyd
resins in emulsion is Sca SP. This mi-
neral product imparts greater hard-
ness and gloss to the dry coating
film compared to traditional fillers.
Saca AS Plus has consolidated in the
paint industry as pigment extender
with great dispersibility and a high
dry and wet hiding power.
Innovating once again, Itatex has
develop a new manufacturing
technology for organophilic clays
used as rheology modifiers in coa-
tings. It is a nano-product by the
trade name of Itagel, which upon
dispersion in the paint produces
thixotropy and prevents dispersed
inorganic pigments from settling.
Itagel is being tested and adapted
for Itatex’s customers in a market
exclusively supplied with imports.
Using nano-products is exclusive-
ly justified in the development of
high value-added specialty products
when intended to improve the me-
chanical and anticorrosive pro-
perties of coatings, i.e. performing
functions other than their traditio-
nal role as paint rheology modifiers.
Jemp
For its second time in a row at the
Abrafati trade show, Jemp Equi-
pamentos is bringing lots of news
to the industry. In addition to the
semi-new pieces of equipment offe-

and dispensers, the Jemp supplies
complete systems for manufactu-
ring paints, resins, polymers and
solvents.
A major piece of news that the
company brings its manufacture of

Lanxess
Lanxess will participate in Abrafati
2009 through its Inorganic Pig-

run by Lothar Schwarz, sales and
marketing manager, Latin America.
The company will display its entire
product range, with all iron oxide-
based pigment shades under the
Bayferrox trademark.
The Inorganic Pigments business
unit will highlight its Yellow 943
pigment, with an orangish shade
that meets the requirements of
Brazilian law no. 11,762, as well as
all other items from the Bayferrox
line. Said law provides for a limit
to lead content in paints. Nontoxic
and environmentally friendly, the
Yellow 943 pigment has a shade
that differs from other yellows, and
can be used in combination with
organic pigments to replace molyb-
dates in the formulations of paints
that meet the requirements of said
new law.
The global line of high-performance
pigments (LOM yellows) produced in
the town of Porto Feliz, São Pau-
lo, will also be stressed during the
trade show. The Bayferrox LOM line
was developed in Brazil, and the
