and incorporated into theday-to-daybusiness of chemical

companiesonaccountoftheircoststillbeinghigh,theresults

achievedsofarshowamajorevolution.”Marcelosaysthere

arecertainproperties that arenot required in thecoatings

market, butwhat is indeedneeded is for paint companies

andtheirsuppliersofmineralfillersoradditivestoincreasingly

improve their quality controls. “As already said years ago,

mineralfillerscurrentlyrepresentawhole lotmorethan just

CityofRiodeJaneiro).

At the opening lecture for the plenary session, titled “Brazil’s

ChangingPaintMarket”anddeliveredbyFranciscoRácz,co-owner

oftheconsultingfirmRácz,Yamaga&Associates,areviewofthe

marketplacewasproposed involvingadiscussionaboutthefocus

on figures and their impact onmarket positions and industrial

productivity. The lecture alsowent on to reviewingprojections

forthefutureandthepotentialforarevolution inthecompetitive

environment.
