Paint&PinturaAttains 200th Issue
Wehave reachedamilestoneatPaint&PinturaMagazine.
This is our issue number 200, whichmeans ourmagazine
ismore thanconsolidatedand recognized in thepaint and
coatingsmarket.Thefirst issuereachedprofessionalsofthe
industry inMarchof1996,whenthepublicationstartedout
asabimonthlymagazine,publishedastheMarch/April 1996
issue. Itwasn’t longbefore itstoodasthe leadingmagazine
ontheindustryandbecameamonthlypublicationduetothe
highdegreeofimportanceitattachedtobringinginformation
andgreat innovationstotheentirecoatingssupplychain.
The19-yearanniversarybeingcelebratedthisyear isnotonly
ofPaint&PinturaMagazine,butalsoofthefirstPaint&Pin-
turaAwards,aneventthatbringstogetherpaintcompanies
and their suppliers of rawmaterials topresent themwith
whathasbecomethe“Oscar”oftheindustryin51categories,
38ofwhich for suppliers, seven for best paint companies,
and six forpersonalitiesof theyear. Inaddition, theaward
presentation ceremony is regarded as one of the largest
andmost importantnetworkingevents inthemarketplace.
A survey conductedwith paint manufacturers provides
thebasis for thechoiceofbest suppliersaccording tosuch
importantcriteriaasspecifications,partnership, lead times,
pricing,services,andvolume.Thebestpaintcompanies, for
their part, are chosenby representativesof their suppliers
basedonsuchcriteriaasemphasisonquality, investments,
product launches, respect for theenvironment, and social
responsibility. The personality categories are alsodecided
by representatives of suppliers, with the exceptionof the
SupplierPersonalitycategory, inwhichthewinner ischosen
bythepaintcompanies.
The 19theditionof the surveywas answeredby 146paint
manufacturersand1,563professionalsof232suppliers.This
makestheawardingdecisions fairandveryethical inall respects.
Thewinners accepted theirmuch-awaited awards onMay 8 at
EspaçoVilado Ipês, inSãoPaulo.Theeventwasamajorsuccess
once again, with 723 paintmarket personalities in attendance,
comprisingbothpaintcompaniesandtheirsuppliers.
Theattractionsof thisyear’seditionalsocheeredupand stirred
up theeveningofMay8. It beganwitha stand-up comedyper-
formancebymusician,actorandcomedianAndréSanti,andwas
followedbytwoperformancesbyTheBeatlesAbbeyRoad,named
theworld’sbestBeatlescoverband inEnglandforthreeyears ina
row. Inaddition, themasterofceremonieswas journalistandTV
showhostNadjaHaddad.Checkoutourfullcoverageoftheevent

Issue number 200 is also innovative. Starting thismonth, we
have a new section featuring editorialistsWashington Yamaga
and FranciscoRácz, of Rácz&YamagaAssociates, whowill be
contributingkey informationonmanagementand thepaintand
coatingsmarket.

onMay8atEspaçoViladosIpês, inSãoPaulo,wasattended
by723representativesofthepaintandcoatingssupplychain,
includingprofessionalsfrompaintcompaniesandtheirsuppli-
ers,aswellasleadersofimportantindustryassociations,such
asDilson Ferreira, executivepresident of Abrafati, Narciso
MoreiraPreto, president of Sitivesp, PauloCésar Abrantes
deAguiar, executivedirectoratSitivesp, EdmilsonZanatta,
directoratSinquisul,CarlosAugustoAlves,chiefexecutiveofficerat
Sintirj,andAlexandreSouzaBrito,Sintirj’srepresentativeatFirjan.
Altogether, 51winnerswerepresentedwith awards, consisting
of 38 suppliersof rawmaterials, sevenpaint companies, and six
personalitiesof theyear.AgneloEditoraalsohonored twogreat
personalitiesofthe industrywiththeSpecialAwardforContribu-
tion to thePaint Industry:DilsonFerreira, executivepresidentof
Abrafati (short in Portuguese for BrazilianAssociation of Paint
Manufacturers), and Cerviflan’s chief executive officer Vicente
LozargoFilho.
